The Red Pill
“Carpe Diem,” my mom would tell me whenever I had a day full of opportunities to seize.
The phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ has become a sort of mantra for me in my journey as an actor. Every day I wake up and strive to improve myself spiritually, physically, and mentally. I simply refuse to live an average life dictated by complacency and regret. There are 24 hours in a day, which is 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds, and it only takes one second to make a decision that will change your life forever. This is how I operate, my red pill if you will.
My journey to the top so far has been a series of carpe diem moments. If it weren’t for my crazed obsession with getting what I want by any means necessary, I’d probably still be living in my hometown of Houston, Texas, wondering “what if”. A lot of people are living that lifestyle and won’t even realize they chose the blue pill until it’s too late, and then what? Your one chance, one opportunity to do something in this weird, multiplayer game of life will have passed and be gone forever.
So, choose the red pill and seize your moment. Become your best self and make every second count; you have 86,400 of them. It’s okay to be scared about taking such big leaps because I get afraid, too, sometimes. That fear is your brain trying to make sense of a reality it can’t comprehend, and that should excite you because in that moment, you’ll be out of your head and in full control. You only have one life.
Carpe Diem.
